Last year, we tried something different, and it was a smashing success. Within days of coming home from Release Notes 2023 in Lisbon, folks were already asking what we were going to do for 2024.
So we talked about what worked and what could be even better, and we came up with a new evolution of the style we adopted for last year.
Welcome to Release Notes 2024. A gathering of friends and colleagues in New Orleans, USA. No talks. No formal events or sessions. Just a group of like-minded individuals discussing their businesses in a lovely town with good food, fun activities, and lots of conversation.
We’re busy finalizing our schedule, but we wanted to get some basic information out to be sure you could plan accordingly.
The Schedule
This year, we’re adding an extra day to our schedule. We will begin on Thursday, April 11 in the afternoon. Plan your arrival accordingly
Thursday, April 11:
- Morning to mid-afternoon: Folks begin to arrive. Perhaps a self-organized lunch for those who arrive early?
- Late afternoon: Food tour of the Garden District. We will sample some great New Orleans cuisine while learning about this historic district a short street car ride from our hotel.
- Evening: Drinks and discussion at the Q&C hotel bar, followed by self-organized music and nightlife
Friday, April 12:
- Mid-morning: Group brunch
- Afternoon: Riverboat Jazz Cruise - Music and sightseeing along the Mississippi River
- Evening: Dine-around. Small groups split up and head into the city for dinner
- Late Evening: Drinks and discussion at the Q&C hotel bar, followed by self-organized music and nightlife
Saturday, April 13:
- Mid-morning: Beignets in the neighborhood
- Afternoon: French Quarter Fest Photo Scavenger Hunt. We will visit the French Quarter Fest in small groups for music, food, and fun
- Evening: Closing Reception
- Late Evening: Drinks and discussion at the Q&C hotel bar, followed by self-organized music and nightlife
Sunday, April 14:
- We say our goodbyes
- Any folks remaining can self-organize for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Spend some extra time wandering the city and enjoying the culture.
Location
New Orleans is one of America’s most treasured cities. Situated at the base of the mighty Mississippi river, this vibrant port is home to some of the best music, food, and culture the United States has to offer.
We will be concentrating most of our events near the historic French Quarter, which is a short walk from our chosen hotel. No need to rent a car. New Orleans is a very walkable city, and public transportation is plentiful and easy to access.
How do I attend?
Unlike last year, this will be a ticketed event. Tickets are available now and are sold essentially at cost. These tickets will cover the cost of your food tour, riverboat cruise, and final reception. Because they are priced to just cover our costs, any companions attending with you will need their own full-priced ticket.
Our goal with making this a ticketed event is to simplify the reimbursement process that we went through last year. We think that this will be a simpler process for both us and our guests.
Tickets are non-refundable. If you find you cannot attend after purchasing your ticket, get in touch and we will attempt to find someone to purchase your ticket from you.
In addition to the cost of these tickets, you should expect to cover your own travel, accommodations, and the rest of your own meals and drinks.
By design, this is going to be an intimate event. So space will be limited. We expect tickets to run out fast.
Hotel
Our recommended hotel for this year’s event is the Q&C Hotel and Bar. It’s a boutique hotel situated just blocks from the French Quarter and close to the famous Warehouse/Arts district.
The fine folks at Q&C are offering our attendees a special rate for our Release Notes weekend. Click the link below to book your stay at this dicounted rate. But be quick. Space is limited, and our rate is only available until mid February, 2024. You can cancel within 72 hours of your first night if your plans change.
